学的一个课程是“为孩子立界限（Boundaries with Kids)”作者是Dr. Henry Cloud
and Dr. John Townsend,我用的是中文翻译本的。昨天上课以后觉得很好，晚上睡前又
看了不少,觉得对我有不少启发和反省的地方。
刚巧今天我老板又给我推荐了另一本书“Parenting is your high calling and 8
other myths that trap us in worry and guilt",作者是Leslie Leyland Fields,我
刚刚去Amazon上看了看书评，很多人都觉得非常好很实用的一本书，我打算读完了前一
本以后就读这一本。
我把两本书简单地介绍下吧，都是从Amazon上copy来的。

早就听说了明州的北边有个地方叫Boundary Waters，明州有万湖之州之称，有一万
约两千多湖。有次大家说起这一万两千个湖是如何来的？我笑指着旁边的一个小水塘，
曰：“这可以算一个吧？”众人哄笑。
每到一个城市，一个地方，我试图捕捉这个城市的魂灵。当我站在Superior这个一望
无际如海一般的大湖边，阳光洒在湖水上，微风吹着水拍着未消融的雪堆，我想，真
好，也许我可以在这里坐上两三天。明州的冬天冷，冷得从天上落下的雪都如细盐花，
滑雪时摔跤会生痛，难得有纷纷扬扬的鹅毛大雪，你会情不自禁地要往雪地上打个滚。

我在看文章时,有段关于evolution equation的数值解的话，提到free-end boundary
condition。 我猜是对区域边界上的格点计算差分(一阶或二阶)，需要给区域外面的临近
的点定义函数值的时候,用这个free-end boundary condition来定义的。不知道我的理解
对不对？如果对，那么这个free-end boundary condition 是怎么定义的？ |

今天碰到一个邻居老太，他说我的前房主跟另外一个邻居关于boundary有争议，我的前
房主认为boundary就是fence所在的位置，她说那个邻居不这样认为，实际boundary应
该更靠近我的房子这边。老太还说，那个邻居挺nice，会work with me on that。我差
点晕倒。。。
我看了一下，其实跟那个邻居交界的地方已经没有fence，而是种了些植物，占地的宽
度大概有一米多的样子，树的那边就是邻居家的水泥地。如果植物所在的区域都是邻居
家的，那我的房子离边界就感觉挺近的。
各位大侠帮忙出出主意，如果那邻居真来找我理论的话我该咋整？老太说她在这个
neighborhood生活了几十年了。看她说话的语气感觉略倾向于我的邻居那边。不过我也
不肯定，来美国时间不长英语也不是很好，555。。。
大家有碰到过类似case的吗。
另外提醒正在买房子的朋友，下了offer之后如果有时间最好还是visit neighbors，最
起码可以多了解关于房子的一些信息。
等有时间打算写一下自己买房的过程，share一下经验和教训。 |

IMHO, boundary checking in Java contributes a lot in robustness.
While thomas is right about it is hard for a program to recover
from an out of boundary, the key point of Java's built-in boundary
checking is that it allows the program to fail in an *orderly* manner,
and prevents the anormaly condition from propagating to other parts

说点好听的，boundary没问题，COUNTY怎么定的就是怎么定的，

阳光下的湖水是蓝色的，蓝得看不见湖底。放眼往去，收入眼中的全是湖水，
小岛和树木。当我们开始挥动桨页往前滑，我们的船却不是朝我们最理想的方向
去，而是斜斜地从湖的一边奔向另一边，又再从另一边奔向这一边。风，浪，摩
托艇开过后的波浪冲向我们的小船，我们以大“之”字路线前进。
过了好一段，我们回头望，码头已经渐渐远去。
妞妞说：“我们还是滑了有一点距离了。”
旁边有两叟独木舟滑过，他们滑行的路线都比我们直得多。我们的路线慢慢地由大
“之”字变成了小一些的“之”字。这一段，湖面更宽广了，我们要从湖的一边冲
向另一边，也不甚容易了。
我说：“革命的道路是曲折的。”
这时，我们看见湖中的三个小岛 |

梦醒时分，又已经是太阳已上三篙。在这样诸多蚊虫穷凶恶极的野外，不用起夜，
一觉睡到天亮是一种难得的幸福。我没有见到晨雾笼罩的湖面。那样的雾，我想人
会在迷宫中迷失。问了营友，说是他们早上六点多醒来时也没见到雾茫茫地笼罩着，
晨曦却也是淡淡的。
我拿着地图，到生火的铁架旁做简易早餐。男士见了，问：“这是地图吧？”问我
们从那里回去？说从右边绕过去大约有6英里多点。有一段短的PORTAGE， 也就是在
陆地上扛船。
我说：就从这里走吧。到BOUNDARY WATERS， 我们也算扛过船了。
早餐很快做好，妞妞也把帐篷收得差不多了。我们收好帐篷后，吃早餐。
妞妞问男士：你觉得我们俩中要是挑一人扛船，谁合适？
男士看了我们俩一眼，指了指我。
我们乐，问：哦，为什么？
他说：“我觉得她不会抱怨。”
我笑：“是因为我看起来强壮一些，或是我态度好？”

其实我是一个很懒惰的人，每次旅行回来都兴冲冲的写了些游记，开了一个头就不了了之
了。这一次，我决定为旅版做一些贡献，这次的游记大家权当行程来看，填充一下旅版的
空缺吧。
最早听说boundary waters (BW) ，是在文学城上。曾有人贴了世界上13个不可不去的地
方。其中有一个竟是位於明尼苏达州北部与加拿大交界的BW，号称人间仙境。由於地理位
置的便利，我便决定在生日的那个周末和领导一起前往踏秋照相。人算不如天算，那个周
末是个超级明媚的大晴天，一扫过去两周的阴雨绵绵。一路上兴致勃勃，可是去到那里却
发现叶子早已落光，就只剩下光杆的白桦林了，唯有展开丰富的想象力去enjoy those
beauties upon dreams。呵呵。 |

而来的问题是学校排名， 房价， 居民的迁入迁出。。。， 据说上级部门也头疼了很
久， 结果疼出水来了，搞出了这麽个不靠谱的方案， 绝对的怨声载道。说白了， 还
是经济大环境不好， 都是lunch 惹得祸。
这不公平的事多了， 就像很多辛苦工作的人要养活n多啥也不干的人一样。不过， 很
