11月初和12月初两次info pass,第一次说11月1号assigned给IO，并显示主卡bkg check
完成，副卡此信息看不到，但两个485都同时在同一个IO手里，第二次说十二月4号last
touch,pending for final decision，还是两个都在同一IO手里。
今天收到infopass回复，说副卡bkg check still open,主卡还没收到回复。
如果是bkg check没结束的话，会assign给IO吗？Infopass 的人两次查询都很肯定地告
诉我如上状态。

主卡批了，副卡变成additional review.二月底SR"we had to blabla...with IO...
60days",但同时期议员回复bkg check open.
昨天又去了infopass，在电脑前面鼓捣了半天，问了我最近有没有出境之类的问题，然
后说with IO,pending fot security check@FBI.我问last touch,说就是今天，他刚才
就是跟IO联系。难道infopass desk跟TSC 可以 online chat?
看来是IO发出去重做bkg check了？ |

要是十月份就批了自然好。关键是好几次状态都是assigned to IO, pending for
final decision, 然后又打回去bkg check.

发帖数: 1 | 12 TSC，140 今年二月底通过，485 RD五月三号，08/10 combo 卡批准，前两天主副都收
到卡了。
期间做过一次infopass，说不建议做SR，因为SR过后会把材料放到stack最后（不确定
是否属实）。
背景：博士医学物理专业，paper 30+ （一作 10+）；
conference abstract 50+；
GS引用申请时候500+， 一作引用300+；
专利2，其中一个有商业化；
book chapter 1
小奖 5+（best talk， etc.)
媒体报道（主要是期刊网站，学校网站）10+
PL准备的时候没有请律师，前前后后差不多准备了一年（主要是自己太懒）。
PL都是套的版上的2011年前后的模板，大概写了20页，claim 老三样。
PL感悟不多，感觉就跟写grant application很类似。
推荐信七封，除博士老板外都是开会时候认识的教授，4个独立。

难道SR增加审批时间是真的？这是我之前收到的SR结果。

批。或者这些加急对甲有用或许对乙无效。现在想想就等吧。那些方法有时候反效果很
强倒是真的。真的愈来愈想回国了。等待中放弃实在太多，到现在还是等待。米国政府
也真的不稀罕人才，因为太多了。 |

不过不确定是普遍情况还是这个工作人员的经验和个人观点。仅供参考吧。

很迷茫的。
我自己的经验就是infopass只要确定材料没有问题就安心等一段时间。

Systems Biology is equally difficult to bio people and math people.
Programming is just a minor part. The problems with systems biology is "too
dry", most of the CNS papers these days are full of shit. The key is to design
new exp. and find good systems to test/demonstrate those systems-level
properties experimentally. It doesn't matter which bkg you come from as long
as you think hard and communicate with people well.

版友的建议，还有老刀前辈的指导，我现在的感觉是正因为申请之时我对自己的bkg比
较有信心，所以相对轻视了其他一些重要因素，譬如对PS 不够精雕细琢，对LOR 也只
注意了写信人身份，但没有看到其中任何一封，很可能其中一些偏中性，赞誉不够强烈
； 另外客观上post graduation year >10, EAD holder 这些导致了可能被大部分PC早
早滤过，申请中期虽然骚扰了所有PD，PC， 但措辞不够eye-catching, dressing
points not very specific to individual program's particular interest, 都影响
了效果；总之是还有很多功夫没有做到家。
我的case希望不要误导到大家，考高分definitely doesn't hurt， 如果没有分数，也
许我就只拿到一个iv了；而且正如反复被说到很多次的，分数是整个变幻莫测的过程中
最可控的因素；但是如果正在9-10年 边缘的版友，一定不要因为追求高分而多耽误一

in my opinion, the best way is to sit in one class for qft, learn the whole
picture, do the calculation after the class. |
