from research aspect, thanks to the human genome project, there is an
information explosion and biology scientists do not know how to use this
massive amount of data. so bioinfomatics scientists are needed to sort
out valuable information from these databases
from clinical aspect, the development of pharmacogenetics field also
requires bioinformatics as its backbone.
so future of bioinformatics is bright. however as far as i know a lot
of statistics majors are shifting their focus to bioinforma

做bioinf的人有来自不同领域的人，一般也都参考原领域的好journal, 好的会议当然也
算。由于隔行隔领域，不同领域里的人看法会有偏差。比如cs的人也许知道bioinforma
tics比biostatistics, biometrics多些。但做生统/统计的人认为biostat, biometric
s要比Bioinformatics好很多。做的东西有些杂，也慢慢才知道这些。列一些我知道相关
的top杂志或conference (for computational methodology or theory)
