发帖数: 4222 | 2 前几天牙齿突然剧痛，并且感觉到下面从中间数第3颗牙（29号）有松动，到看牙医。
牙医做过x-ray，没有蛀牙。说是下面有一个洞，导致细菌感染，原因说是可能是外力
导致
牙齿松动。有两种治疗方法：其一为拔掉那颗牙，其二为root canal。我看版上以往文
章提到千万不要随便拔掉自己的牙，这个会导致其他牙齿出问题。因此打算做根管，但
因为以前牙齿很好，国内从未看过牙医，家里人牙齿也很好，就没有买牙齿保险。打算
这个冬学期买了学校保险，再做根管。
先有问题如下：
一：牙医说一年内做问题都不大。但我看版上有文章说他root canal拖了3个月导致有
其他病症出现。如果真的很可能如此， 我就不打算省这比钱了，毕竟发病实在太痛苦
了。
二：没有做root canal前，如何注意口腔卫生，防止再感染。
三：root canal做后是不是一定要加crown， 我的是bicuspid tooth，牙医开的单子上
没有说要加crown。另外root canal therapy on bicuspid tooth, 630USD，这个价格
是否公道？

1. 看牙保险给报销么?
参见具体policy。健康保险如无明文提到exception，一般可以认为不报。看病之前，自学一下保险手册的关键条款（有生命危险或疼得天昏地暗者除外）。
2. 看牙咋省钱？
有保险的考虑适当拖延。到下一年可以用新报销额度。
自费买dental insurance：一般premium几百/年，一年最多报销两千，外加
waiting period，所以不一定合算。临时报佛脚的情况就不要考虑了。
dental discount plan：在参加计划的诊所可以立刻打折。比如Aetna Advantage Dental。
收入确实低的，在本地找免费或low cost诊所。这些地方可能有eligibility要求，很多只提供有限服务。
去附近的dental school clinic，给学生做小白鼠。
自己跟牙医去讨价：前提是在看病以前讨，不要狮子大开口。
多问问题：有无非完善但廉价的其他治疗方案、哪步不一定做、是否去征求second opinion...

要付$198，要帮这只牙做一个crown保险付50% ，我要自付50%，大概要付$480，感觉贵
了些！和版主写的好像有些出入，周六又去见牙医了，我应该怎么去她说呢

may not really reveal potential heart problems.
I just happen to read the following post and would like to share.
It is a long read but the gist is that this guy paid $1400 to have a really
thorough tests because he too find casual blood test is just not enough.
Lucky for him his heart is find although they find tiny scar tissue at his
