急转变化，陈光诚在抵达医院后表示遭到中国当局威胁，担心家人的安全，请美国帮助
他们离开中国。而美国国务院则表示，陈光诚的说法有部分不确实。
陈光诚在离开美使馆到达北京朝阳医院后，接受美联社访问说，美国官员告诉他，中国
当局曾威胁，如果他不离开大使馆，当局要把他的妻子活活打死，他和家人都很害怕，
他是在妻子生命受到威胁下，被迫离开大使馆，也希望能离开中国。
前「新闻周刊」北京特派员刘美云(Melinda Liu)与在朝阳医院的陈光诚通话后表示，
陈光诚感觉「他被美国抛弃了」，而且哭着乞求(begs)能搭国务卿喜莱莉的专机离开中
国。认识陈光诚十多年的刘美云说，她从不感觉陈光诚像今天如此般害怕。他说现在「
