Ballmer retiring from Microsoft »

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has unexpectedly announced he is retiring within
a year. The blogosphere is abuzz but here is some analysis from Therese

Microsoft Corp. is going to have a tough time finding the right leader
to replace Steve Ballmer, who will step down within a year from the software

Not because he’s been doing a bang-up job of late. While Microsoft has

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer drew a large crowd of students at the University
of Washington computer science department today, giving a broad overview of
the company and the direction of the tech industry.
Of course, a big reason any company takes part in this type of talk is to
get potential recruits excited about its vision. That's more important than
ever in Microsoft's case, as it settles into middle age.
Which is why one student's question stood out as particularly noteworthy, as

Jobs: What is Steve Ballmer? a sales person. Case closed.
Apple

The reason is very simple -- Lu Qi is Ballmer's baby since Ballmer is very

Microsoft Predicts 'Cloudy' Computing Future
Posted on: Thursday, 20 May 2010, 14:10 CDT
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, said Wednesday that the company
is betting that the future of computing is in the Internet "cloud."
"Cloud computing represents the next frontier," Ballmer said at an annual
gathering of corporate chief executives at Microsoft's campus in Redmond,
Washington.
"We've been betting or investing in the cloud for about ten

Ballmer received 100 percent of his target bonus for the past fiscal year, instead of a maximum of 200 percent,
because of the failure of a mobile phone called the Kin, the loss of market share in smartphone software and the need
for more innovation in that area, the board said in the filing.
Ballmer has already shown a desire to appoint engineers or product experts to run divisions. Stephen Elop, who left to
run Nokia Oyj in S...

Yahoo
to run Bing to compete with Google.

This is a rumor that has come around a few times before, and this time the
rumor's source is a bit convoluted for our tastes, but the idea of Bill
Gates reclaiming his seat as CEO of Microsoft after 3 years of retirement is
one that strikes a chord with those who think Microsoft has lost a step.
There has been no shortage of analysts calling for the head of Steve Ballmer
over the last few years, but we don't think Steve Ballmer has been a
disaster for Microsoft. Although, the company has been sl...

Bill
Steve
