上次说到, Intel一心一意要维护自己在硅工艺技术上的领先形象, 可是由于它强烈
的risk aversion, 实际上常常是走在技术研发的后端.(除了铜工艺, strained
silicon, SOI, finfet都是由别人先发表出来.) 在这种时候, intel总是顾左右而
言它, 而私底下一定是拼命追赶, 到2001年, intel终于在0.13um工艺上使用了铜互连.
落后IBM四年多, 落后Jerry Sanders的AMD一年多.
当时Intel的一位fellow说, "工艺不是最重要的, 体系结构更能决定芯片性能". 于是就
在这时候, intel在体系结构上也栽了大跟头. 其辉煌程度只会有过之而无不及. 如果说
在铜工艺上的落后是一个disaster, 那么intel在体系结构上的错误会被证明是一个
catastrophe. 很难想象, 换了是另一个公司会能够度过如此昂贵的灾难.
这就是我要说的第三次论战: 64位对64位, IA-64 vs x86-64.

的就是他说大多数人都以为他是risk taker，但是其实他本人是risk averse，but
will do his homework before he makes any big decision.
库班进大学以后，因为对business感兴趣，所以大一开始就偷学MBA的课程，直到一年
半以后被人发现了被赶了出来。他学的第一门课是graduate level statistics，因为
他觉得如果能搞定这门课，那所有其他MBA的课他都有信心搞定。
在谈Data Analytics在NBA中的应用的时候，讲了当年基德有段时间跳投的成功率很低
，然后他手下的团队用sports view采集的数据进行分析，发现基德投进的球在空中的
最高点，比没投进的球的空中最高点差不多要高一英尺，然后他让基德调整跳投的出手
轨迹，然后命中率立刻提高了。特别能讲，一看就是很聪明的人，虽然很cocky很多人

最后还振振有词，为国家鞠躬尽瘁20年
没有缴税不是有意的。
有个词叫 tax aversion
靠工资的人们 逃税的可能性最小 只有2％以下，基本被考虑为误差和错报，
但是其它收入的人士，逃税及其厉害， 农民逃税率到50％都很正常。
税 也就是对拿死工资的人有效。 |
