A自己的使用的亲身经验：出差去Seattle，以前一般就是定的150-200左右的旅馆然后
租个车，旅馆都包括早餐，有健身房，游泳池啥的。看到这么多A的讨论，这次出差专
门在A上定的，99一天的studio,外加清洁费用和A的commission,基本上在120左右一天
吧。首先，99一天的基本是能找到的最便宜的，唯一的好处是离我要取得地方近，5分
钟步行，其他很多豪华的地方，150-500不等。A的价格和一般3-4星旅馆差不多，其实
我也无所谓，就是晚上睡个觉。但是感觉不方便，没有健身房和泳池，晚上基本啥都干
不了。特别是没有早餐，我还得自己晚上准备或者早上出门。所以这个business model
基本就不是给出差的人的。如果专门给人vacation用，价格的优势没有了，而且住在别
人家里感觉怪怪的。那天在出个什么有摄像头偷录客人，A就很麻烦了。
U的话基本让TCP作废，整个TCP链条上的人公司都会反对。在中国，出租车公司的拍照
是很值钱的，看看出租车司机每个月交多少分子钱。U的模式在中国，就是鼓励黑车，

周薪，美国的雇主还要付中介，au pair 到美国的一切费用。这个算下来从6000到8000
不等。她们在美国雇主家一般是呆一年，满意可以续一年。不过都是些年轻姑娘，不知
道看小孩有没有经验 |

的，年纪大了，不能 au pair的。
带小baby就算了，给大孩子做个babysitter还凑合。

they get an Au pair from Poland, in her 20s, less than 2 weeks after getting
here, she get a mexican american boyfriend, and went out at nights very
late everyday, and doesn;t pay too much attention to their baby.

(2) For foreigners in academia, on average how long it takes for them to
become permanent resident if they want to? (it seems non-residents don't
have some of the benefits, such as free medical care and so on.)
(3) Is the 17% superannuation counted as taxable income?
(If the base salary is AU$85K, plus 17% superannuation, is the taxable
income $85K or $99.5K?)

20-30% funding rate sounds pretty good (I think NIH and NSF funding rate is
probably <15% now). I know the size of grants is usually much smaller in AU
compared to US.

不是不少人最后在自己不擅长的领域反而拿到钱了么
而澳大利亚这边你符合所有条件每年也只能申请1-2次,最多2-4个申请
所以这个20-30%对个人来说,是相当低的
