是我孩子不是在美国生的，没有SSN，于是关于孩子的所有费用都不能填入了，软件一
直报错而且不能继续，只有不填孩子了，才能往下走。是不是这样啊？我用的H&R
Block 软件。
我自己目前是按resident alien 申报的，H1B签证的，孩子是H4。
请教：是否非美国生的孩子就不能加入dependent吗？
可以去给我孩子申请SSN, ITIN, or ATIN 吗？

我刚查了一下1099的Instruction.1099需要填写一个Recipient’s Identification
Number。它的解释全文：
Enter the recipient’s identification number using hyphens in the
proper format. SSNs, ITINs, and ATINs should be in the
XXX-XX-XXXX format. EINs should be in the XX-XXXXXXX
format.
外国人应该没有这个号码。而且我用“payment to foreign person"查找，第一个链接
就是IRS的form 1042-S。这个要Withhold。我然后用“payment to foreign
contractor"找到这个链接：

You cannot get the EITC if, instead of an SSN, you (or your spouse, if
filing a joint return) have an individual taxpayer identification number (
ITIN). ITINs are issued by the Internal Revenue Service for non citizens who
are not eligible for an SSN. Any child you use to claim EITC must also have
a valid Social Security Number, the child cannot have an ITIN or an
adoption taxpayer identification number (ATIN) |
