ranking
2, Acton is closed to Boston Downtown. In case, I will look a job for myself
later.
BTW, I work in clinical reaseach field. There are more job openings around
Boston area.
What else make Acton is better? I have friend live in Andover.
Right now, I don't think westford is good choice for us, since it is outside
495 and high school is so so. |

发帖数: 665 | 9 今天买了一个房子，发现本来有4个bath, 但是 city assessment 只有2个
，就跑到town 里去查 permit, 发现4个bath 算是有plumbing permit, OK. 然后就傻
乎乎地跑到 Assessor office, 问可不可以将 assessment data 改成4个bath, staff
说可以，但是要涨 value, 每个 bath 1.5-2 万，我想了想还是要改。后来被告知房子
明年会基本按照买价的 95% 算 assessment value, 那么 assessment value会从 51万
涨到65万左右。 我心里一惊，吓坏了，这哪了得。 算下来 12.77X 65 万 /1000 = $
8300/年， 比以前多了1800/年. 每个月多了 $150.
我就随便查了一下 Lexington的一个房子的税， 那个房子比这个小一半， assessment
57万，但是要交 15.2X57万/1000 = $8900 的税。而且这个房子是烧油的，冬天据说
是每个月600-800 的油取暖的费用。

个人上班开车都很轻松省时。andover本身是个好学区，它和manchester之间NH底盘上
还有没有好区就不清楚了

大家关注学区主要还是高中，因为这个直接影响上大学。
同一个学区可以有一个或几个高中，所以在目标是进入某个高中时，不要想当然认为是
这个学区就是这个高中。
比如troy学区，有两个高中，Troy High 和Athen High。rochester 学区有三个高中，
Adam high，stoney creek 和rochester high。
在大底特律地区，在全美排名靠前（比如 us news的排名）的高中Adam， troy high，
Birmingham， andover/lasher， northville.
andover 和 lasher 是Bloomfield的两个高中，正在合并过程中，合并以后，排名也许
会上升一些。
像stoney creek， 是比较新的学校，reputation还没有完全建立起来，不能说就比其
他的差。
另外，学校的好坏，两大影响因素，钱和生源。
有名气的学校，更容易有好生源，更容易出成绩。
关于钱，除了捐款，地税是一大来源。

这个学校在caltech旁边，里面牛人无数，一个年级80人，10个去stanford
这些私立学校比公立要难进多了，我大学很好的一朋友，IBT考了119/120，但他私立高
中也只被WRA(western reserve academy)录取了,他妹妹现在去了kent，也算是牛的一
所私立高中了，当然无法和Phillips Andover这种比
大名鼎鼎的mark zuckerberg就毕业于phillips andover |

首先你过95/128的口就要15分钟至少，然后下来从winchester的口一直开始堵起。
我以前反向commute经常下班都在93上被堵30分钟。
我们公司有个老头，住andover，受不了commuting，每天都是10:30上班，7:30走。我
跟他聊过，他说我如果要正常时间上下班，andover不要考虑了。 |
