好像Andover比较合适，单程commute也可以控制在1小时以内。家有两小娃。不知道这

过你们先不用着急买，孩子还小，可以来了波士顿熟悉一下再说。至少等你的工作地点
定了后，再确定在哪里买房更靠铺，Manchester, NH和watertown是南辕北辙。Andover
到Watertown的commuting很Tough，Andover到Machester尽管稍远但要好不少。如果工
作地点在watertown，男方能commuting多些的话，还可以考虑Lexington，Belmont，
Weston，Lincoln之类的，都是好学区，你到Watertown可以走Local。也可以考虑到
Winchester，你老公全程反向高速93到Andover，会容易不少,你可以穿Local到
Watertown，但要穿过不少人口密集town，你的距离还是短但时间反而比你老公反向93
多。

Elementary Bancroft is very good.But they're rebuilding the school and
divert students to other Andover elementary now. 2009 elementary school
ranking is very top.
Private school has Pikes, 20% admission rate to Philips Academy private
school.Philips Academy has about 18% ivy school admission rate last year.
You can search for it.
Public high is better at literature.

立高中的好几条横马路的？房子就买在Andover，离Lowell不太远，万一孩子天资一般
的话，Andover High也能凑合了。80万买Andover也差不太多。 |

public schools. They are not as good as those top schools such as Winchester
etc but I think at least comparable to Westford etc.
And it has the best Philips Academy if your kids are smart enough. The
Chinese school here is quite good too. We are in Andover for a few year now
and pretty happy about it.
For about 600K, you might be able to find some decent houses in Andover, for

事也有交往，所以我还是比较了解美国（至少是麻省这里）的公立教育的。公立里的好
的和差的本身也是一个天，一个地。好的pay得高，差得pay的一般（当然一般都是大锅
饭，现在老师的工资也不是很低了），好的老师一般都会去好的学校，这是老师素质上
的差别。然后生源的差别，这太重要了，差town学生的纪律就是一大问题，上课老师花
很多时间管纪律，这还怎么上得好课？好town学生就比较乖，老师就能比较好得上课。
然后差town的学校drama也多，一会有bomb threat了，一会有学生带枪到学校了, 一会
有学生的家里发生重大变故甚至悲剧了 ... you name it.
所以老中买房子特别讲究学区，这个是对的！好的公立学校，至少在这里比如
Lexington,学校里的教育是很competitive的。
差town里的美国家长是比较流行高中开始送孩子去读私立的，我老婆教书的town算是差

朋友的儿子A，很优秀，校内校外都很活跃。有人嫉妒也正常。今年申请Andover，被放
在wait list上了。同年级一个各方面都不如他的白男孩被Andover录取了。That's
fine, it's the school's decision.
让人不可思议的是，这白男孩跑来找A，当着他的面念Andover录取信，念完后得意地说
，“你完了，回中国去吧...不会是太穷没钱买船票吧？”
！！！！ 真想像不了这是一个亚裔男孩13岁就要面对的歧视和挑战！！！！
刚看到SCA5有关的讨论还觉得，西岸很遥远，大学也很遥远。很鸵鸟地以为东岸还不至
于，实在不行考私校。如今看来，我们若不作为，本身就是在歧视我们自己和我们自己
的子孙！
回到原题，实在不敢恭维某些私校的招生标准。 这么低劣人品的学生招进去，改造好
了也就是个brat！ |
