我把自己这两个多月找analog电路设计的工作的经历写下来，希望对大家有
帮助。
先说说我面试的公司，我在7月初开始修改简历，然后把简历放到网上，期间收
到了这些公司的面试，AMD, NXP, Cirrus Logic, Intel, Intrinsix, Micrel,
Zarlink，3家小公司M/R/S.其中只有一个公司把我拒了，拿到了其他全部公司
的offer。另外拿到了TI和Qualcomm的on-site的面试机会，不过没时间去了，
就婉拒了。另外Atmel完成了电话面试之后说会给我消息，不过我已经没法等
了。还有一个比较奇怪的Analog Device的面试，他们没有工作位置，但是一
个部门的经理对我做的项目感兴趣，给我电话聊了一下。

想到还有些东西可以补充一下；另外这期间还收到了一些朋友的留言和email，
其中不少是刚刚毕业新生的一些问题，所以我下面就再后面叽叽歪歪一下analog
的学习和找工作经验，以配合我佛的大无畏精神。
我叽歪的这些东西，有很多其实是我当时找工作和学习过程中想了解，但是苦于
找不到的，现在写下来，希望对大家，特别是还在学校里的学生有帮助和提醒。
当然，这些主要适用于非牛校，非牛人的情况。

言归正传，一些关于找工作的一些事情
- 关于猎头，我找工作的时候，收到了很多猎头的电话，并且我很多on-site的面
试机会 都是从猎头那里来的。我感觉猎头对我找工作帮助还是挺大的，猎头和
我们应该是互 惠互利的关系。因为他们如果他们成功帮一个公司招到人的话，
会从公司里拿到佣金。并且，你的工资待遇越高，他们拿到的钱也越多。从这个
角度讲，猎头其实是会尽很大努力来帮忙的。

自己在学校里已经tapeout过了两个chip 对analog IC算是有了一个比较皮毛的了解了
整个流程也算走过一遍了 从订 spec 到 design 到 layout 到回来自己做PCB测试 原
来不了解IC的时候想学习的欲望特别强烈 现在倒是缺少了吸引力和神秘感
很多人说Analog IC将来的市场份额会越来越小 现在听一些工业界的人说很多大的
foundry 手上都有很多Analog IC的标准的模块 无论客户要什么要求 马上就可以给客
户 而且都已经事先mask 做好了 各个application的block都有 形成了一个 庞大的
library 举例来说 XXX foundry 手上有上百个各种spec 的 OPamp mask 无论客户要
什么 它们随便就拿出一个
而且现在中国正在蚕食美国的IC design 的空间 很多国内的普通大学都可以做analog
IC 中国工程师的薪水要求又低 中国人也 |

说到好的analog design，那绝对不是science范畴了，是art。举个例子：widlar这样
的才真算是做analog做到家了，这可不是你在公司里随便能碰到的同事。我等凡人还是
走一步算一步好了，总之师父领进门－修行在个人了。看看七几年的那些publications
，再回头看看现在，真是觉得这些年analog ckt design本身并没有太多update，只是
系统越来越复杂了。 |

发帖数: 2572 | 14 我是学生物的，没有一点电路知识，别说数电魔电了，结果现在傻眼了：
一块NI PCI 6711的板子在我手上坏了两次：第一次我线路插错了，digital output烧
了；修好了后装上，刚开始还好好的，后来发现solenoid valve不反应，查了查，板儿
上64pin当中恒定5v的pin只给我1.5v，没法带动另外一个drive （这个drive是带动和
协调几个solenoid valves，但是这个另有dc电源提供，这个5v在我的理解是，有了它
，valve的开关才能受ttl pulse的协调），anyway，这块板给flow controller提供
analog signal。
第二次送去修，回来的报告是analog output坏了，但是，当时flow controller还是显
示了我输入的数值，说明有正确的analog signal啊，而且为什么analog坏了，5v的pin
会没足够电丫呢。。。
好像太白痴了，连问题也讲不太清楚；不过还是在这里希望工程师同志们讲讲，analog
output会有什么原因坏呢？小女子先谢过了。 |

这个说是analog circuit design 没错，不过现在一般人说到analog circuit design
意为 analog "integrated" circuit design.
没有suport 不support 的问题。只不过做IC design的觉得比较高级，比较酷而已。
在外
EE还很多搞软件的呢。
能设计好的电路，做出PCB, 调试通过是很好赚钱。
不过我同事去年告诉我在加州有招analog IC desiner 的 contract, $200/hour.大概是要7-10 years of experience |

个人情况：我对IC design很有热情，基础还算扎实。这个学期在上advanced analog的
课，除此以外在自学UCLA Razavi的analog lecture和berkeley ee140/240的webcast。
以前在射光所和现在在实验室都有schematic设计和仿真的经历。course project也做
过不少，熟悉cadence和ads。没有tapeout经历。

我加贴一个n年前，我问同样问题得到的答复：
Both in analog and digital,Stanford and Berkeley are the foremost class two.
UCLA is the third in analog/RF
Sodini's MIT is pretty good in analog but that group is not so large so MIT
is not very strong in this area compared to Stanford and Berkeley
UCSD is also strong in this area, Dr.Song and Dr.Ian Galton is good at A/D,D
/A and Drs Larry Larson and Walter Ku is good at high speed compound RF IC.

it won't happen. first of all, not many analog IC circuit design jobs
available. Like you said below, not very many companies and in each company,
only small percent of circuit designer jobs are analog ones. secondly, not
a lot MS programs in the US that produce analog IC designers. thirdly, EE
students from china are much fewer than biology students, and also getting
MS or Ph.D. in circuit designers requires certainly course/trainings.

我现在也正在思索下一步该如何走
有两种类型的东西我大概可以继续做 一就是sigma delta 二就是computational
analog IC 后者学术色彩比较重 但是理论能扯进来很多公式 看上去像一个research
sigma delta 现在基本完全没有概念 估计要花相当的时间 当然我这个摸过之后估计找
工作就没有问题了 我也成了专门做analog IC的家伙了 前途就限制死了
你说去读一个IP law 当IP的attoney 如何呢 很多生物版上的人找不到工作就打谱去IP
law school 但是我们的analog IC 至少还赚钱 不过等到我40岁 50岁的时候还赚钱吗 |

发帖数: 13 | 48 也许代工厂有比较多的IP core，但我觉得Pure digital part用一些IP core的比较多
，而Analog Circuit，根据不同的需求变化非常大，想要IP core，除非是性能完全一
致，我做了3年Analog了，觉得从这种diversity上说，仅靠IP core的模拟，it's so
hard .Furthermore,一个重要的原因是，Design house 和 Foundary之间的沟通常常不
是那么顺畅, especially a lot of design spcifications and details 。Moreover
，IP core is so expensive according to times you will use it，一个公司不会
那么轻易要用很多IP core,而情愿多用一些人。

不过Analog IC 需要公司的产品设计从底层定义开始， 目前还是美国那边把握着，
国内这边多事做上层的数字逻辑。
因为需求少，所以读的人就少，所以吃香；
因为需求少，所以合适的工作计划就少， 所以工作并不是很好找。
总之，Analog IC 还是不错的，君不见

闲下来的时候我经常考虑自己学的这个Analog IC将来对我自己事业发展的前途问题 我
自己在学校里已经tapeout过了两个chip 对analog IC算是有了一个比较皮毛的了解了
整个流程也算走过一遍了 从订 spec 到 design 到 layout 到回来自己做PCB测试 原
来不了解IC的时候想学习的欲望特别强烈 现在倒是缺少了吸引力和神秘感 |
