自美国北卡罗莱纳州立大学的 Alper Bozkurt 副教授及他的队伍初步开发出一种能「
控制」蟑螂爬行方向的方法。他们在一只活生生的马达加斯加发声蟑螂背部装上一个遥
控微型控制器，不过这个所谓的控制器并不是要控制蟑螂的脑神经信息，反而只是简单
地连接了它的触角和尾叶（腹部的感触器官，用作感应空气的流动）。在需要转向的时
候，例如左转，操作员就会按遥控的左键，微型控制器就会向蟑螂的感触器官发出有障
碍物的错觉，如错觉是「来自」右边，那蟑螂就会向相反的方向走，以免撞向障碍物。
这个计划的目的就是开发出一种低成本的灾区搜索设备，明显地就是要用在昆虫身上啦
；他们说上图这个遥控微型控制器的零件（如收发信号的芯片）都是市面可以买到的，

枪支管控法案话题正在被奥兰多枪击案刺痛的美国社会中持续升温。最新发表在
Journal of the American Medical Association上的研究也许能够提供一个答案。
在新的研究中，悉尼大学名誉教授Simon Chapman，他的同事Philip Alpers，以及麦考
瑞大学教授Mike Jones公布了他们的统计证据，证明自从20年前颁布控枪法案，澳洲的
蓄意武器致死案件快速下降，大规模枪击事件再无发生。
1996年4月，塔斯马尼亚的阿瑟港发生了一起枪击案，一名男子使用两支半自动步枪屠
戮了35人，伤及19。随后，澳洲政府首次通过了强制回购法案，和新的禁止速射远程枪
