For people who need fast network storage/streaming,
3500L is highly recommended (just tested):
With dd-wrt, wired-to-wired gigabit NICs, 9 feet CAT5e
cables, through put is 887Mbps!
For wireless, 2.4GHz, with 20MHz single channel, 48Mbps
with 40MHz dual channel, 68Mbps.

2.4GHz channels together to achieve 300Mbps connection
rate.
The Netgear 3700 is dual band, simultaneously, and dual
channel also, so up to 600Mbps.
I did not test N16. It has a faster CPU, so performance should
be similar. However, do not have its giga switch info. 3500L
has a full bandwidth hardware switch (if I remember correctly).
After testing, I recall this piece info, and convinced. |

true? I have one 3500L. Very stable, planned to
install opens source firemware. But if giga through
put is slow, I am not willing to do so, then.

1. RT-N16 CPU比3500L快，闪存啥大很多，能搞出的花样的也多。
2. 这两东东最好都用tomato usb的firmware来做测试。
3. 大多数测评中RT-N16的wireless速度/覆盖比3500L要好好些，overall也是RT-N16胜
出。你对一个N wireless router说你不care....
4. gigabyte router wired-to-wired测试不知道用的是什么方式，这600Mbps+的速度基
本快接近HDD的传输瓶颈了，你这两个结果相差不大有可能有HDD的因素影响(碎片啥的)
。
5. 定位一定要正确，如果你说不care wireless router的wireless的性能的话，直接搞
个10多块的gigabit switch，性能没准比3500L还好。

ones around $77 on sale. They both have 5 giga
ports.
rt-n16 deal may have passed, but newegg has
sales once in a while. rt-n16 is supposed
to be better (hardware) if you really want to 刷
dd-wrt.
But I like 3500L better, because 1. my old netgear
624 is very good, never had a problem 24x7 for
years, and it is still the same; 2. Netgear firmwares
are not as buggy as Asus firmwares. Those Asus
firmware programmers are ruo4 zhi1.

running 24x7, no problem. Last time when rt-n12
died, I decided to run rt-n16 at the end of last year,
hopefully it either dies within warranty or never dies.
The other rt-n16 is in the box never opened. Warry about it
now. |

wan and lan, 300mbps N. dd-wrt and tomato,
extremely stable. N16 sometimes not reliable,
hardware failure rate is really high. I only
use N16 myself (installed asterisk), but let
LD use worry-free 3500L (for reliability). |

电视和台式机比较远，台式机用的无线网卡（USB和PCI-E的都尝试了）信号就1-2格，
白天打网页还行，晚上有的时候网页都打不开。所以用另外一个router Asus 520GU（
都刷的是tomato）, 桥接。Xbox和PBO用网线连在Asus 520GU上。看CCTV和玩游还比较
卡。XBOX里面测试网速说网速不够看1080P的电影。台式机网速也没有明显改善，还是1
-2格。自己按网上设置的，2个路由器IP设置不同，网络ID和密码都设置一样的，WDS+
AP，互添MAC。 感觉桥接成功了，XBOX和PBO都能上网了。台式机和Asus 520GU在一个
房间，信号还是1-2格，不知道到底是连接3500L还是520GU，如何分辨，因为网络ID都
一样的。
现在想买2个200M的powerline, 1个连主router,另一个插在电视旁边的电源上。 Asus
520GU做交换机，XBOX和PBO用网线连接在Asus 520GU上（感觉网速应该能快些）。 台

For long term hardware stability, I trust Netgear better

higher than my internet speed, which is ~34Mbps. For
faster LAN speed, I drag cables around, and sometimes,
direct cable connections between servers for faster speed

This may partially contribute to the difference. However,
I suspect that the giga switch in N16 might be less
capable.
People need to cut corners somewhere to be profitable.
Thinking of the extra Flash and RAM on N16, there is no
free lunch. You get what you paid for:) |

Flash and Ram do not mean anything to me, as long as
enough. Wireless is good enough if it is faster
than my internet connection.
I never claimed that I was not biased. Yes, I am biased,
and I like Netgear better.

剩下的1510卡，只能到intel卡的速度的一半，75m，1520在tkip下只能到48m的速度，
换到AES能到140m。都些啥狗屁问题。网上看了看，1510的问题还挺多。

1. Set Channel Width 40 MHz
2. Set Security WPA2 Personal (PSK) + AES
3. set free channel to avoid potential congestion from your neigbour, you can
scan free channels with Tomato firmware.
You should be able to get stable 300m. I have five N wireless laptop/desktop/mobile phones, all stays at 300m, and backup xxx GB data through wireless, no single problem. |

some posts I have read before, you may only get 150m with some of of other
